- Enjoy pieces by beloved classical masters such as Beethoven and Brahms.
- Marvel at Charles Ives’s Piano Trio on his 150th birthday, and relish popular works by Arnold Schoenberg, Gabriel Fauré and Maurice Ravel whose anniversaries fall during this season.
- In October, we gather a larger ensemble to perform Mendelssohn’s Sextet for Piano and Strings as well as the string septet arrangement of Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante.
- In November, we observe the Veteran’s Day weekend with our first performances of Kevin Puts’s 2001 And Legions Will Rise for the unusual combination of clarinet, violin, and marimba.
- In the cold of January, we honor winter with works by three Russian composers: Prokofiev, Arensky, and Glazunov.
- We continue the project of programming and recording our commissioned works and issuing these to the public in three volumes.
- Scheduled for April, our 2024 commission by Boston composer Peter Child is scored for oboe, viola, and piano.
- We reprise our 2021 commission, Lowell Liebermann’s Clarinet Sonata, in our season opener in September. In March, we bring back Tyranny of Coordinates for piano quintet (2022) by Michi Wiancko.
- For the season finale on Mother’s Day, we will perform Three Romances by Clara Schumann, herself a great pianist, composer, and mother of eight, along with Brahms’s Piano Quartet No. 3 in C minor (“Werther”).
